Amon Tobin, Cinematic Orchestra & the Six Million Dollar Man
jamming in the back of a taxi on their way to the
Parisian Kaftan Club
Featuring 5 gorgeous electro-jazzy tracks that seamlessly fuse beats, jazzden
ambiences and a hip pocket full of samples, DON MEERS' first release
for Groovescooter Records is an eclectic and evocative EP.
From the manic cool and electro-jazz-disco club vibe of Rum Boogie to his
bionic-beat rewiring of the theme from the Six Million Dollar Man [We Have
The Technology], producer and filmmaker Don Meers shows himself to be a
master of mood. Whether it’s the swinging beauty of poetic-locomotion Gelber
Mond or sublime instrumentals Fireworks At Night & 4.30am we can
guarantee “you’re gonna dig this”. Sample-freak DON MEERS brushes his
soundscapes with luminous textures that will both chill and warm the darkest
corners of your mind.
The basic plot: Through a taxi window, a blur of early morning clubbers, aimless
prowlers and street cleaners rushes past the lazy eyed passengers. Inside the
pressurised cabin, a night replays itself in slo-mo to a soundtrack that does home
delivery on a cushion of beats.
Time: 4.30am. Place: The mind’s metropolis. Driver: Don Meers.
