LABEL NOTES:
Tech Funk, religion and porn; Lot49 founder Mark Pember aka DJ/Producer Meat Katie likes to mix it up on and off the decks, anyone who has caught a Lot49 party will know exactly what this label is about. The Tech-Funk vibe is about heavy, techy rolling basslines – a romp between techno, breaks, house and electro. Named after the book ‘The crying of Lot49’ the label began in 2004 after Mark’s partner in the now sadly defunct Whole Nine Yards label decided to move to Sweden. “I found myself in the odd position of doing 100% of the work for a 50% share, so I decided to get my arse into gear and build myself a new label”, says Mark. Lot49 has since seen Meat Katie team up with fellow Tech-Funk junkie Dylan Rhymes. The label has quickly established itself with a string of singles and remixes and further honed it’s sound to what it is today. Dance music heavyweights such as Elite Force, D Ramirez, Koma & Bones, Evil 9, Lützenkirchen, Audiojack and the Bassbin Twins are only a few of the names flying the Lot49 flag of electronic filth.
