Frankfurt (Germany) based label KLANG ELEKTRONIK was born in 1993 as a sister-label from PLAYHOUSE, both imprints of ONGAKU MUSIK. Founders and owners are the two DJs ATA MACIAS and HEIKO SCHÄFER. Originally founded to give two new friends and producers: ROMAN FLÜGEL and JÖRN ELLING WUTTKE (aka. ACID JESUS, SENSORAMA, ALTER EGO) an own new territory to release their first four ACID JESUS singles (and the following album, 1993/94), the label rised up quickly, turning into a platform of various styles and producers from different countries (for example SIDERAL from Spain, FLUX from Belgium, DANIEL BELL from Detroit, IL.EK.TRO from Leeds or SAPIANO AND THE PARTYCRASHERS from London). They were completing the various range of music of the local acts of KLANG ELEKTRONIK like EIGHT MILES HIGH, SIKORA, MAUS & STOLLE, EX.OR.ZIS.MUS or SIRO who were friends of ATA and HEIKO from around Frankfurt International contacts were growing and becoming more and more important through ATAs and Heikos work at famous DELIRIUM -Recordstore in Frankfurt (where they were working from the very beginning in 1991 until 1997), also through their thursday-resident DJ-night WILD PITCH CLUB (from 1993-1999 in Frankfurt) and last but not least through FLÜGEL/WUTTKEs legendary international Live-shows as ACID JESUS and ALTER EGO, mainly in the UK that time. Basically for the reason of FLÜGEL/WUTTKEs versatile productions and various remixes on numerous different labels KLANG released its first FREESTYLE CANDIES compilation in 1997 (a masterpiece only released on CD-format and already deleted) that contained their best remix-works - and the best remixes done for them - in an unheard way, in a costly »Floppy-Disc-sleeve« packaging. Artists like BLACK DOG, GLOBAL COMMUNICATION or SVEN VÄTH were back to back with PHILLIP BOA and DAVID HOLMES on that CD (which is definitely gonna be re-released soon), a mixture that was quiet unusual that time but went together very well and still does. The slogan »MUSIC IS LANGUAGE« is principle and prescription at the same time for co-operations on an international basis without any boundaries in music or style. The release-concept, always chosen in a collective (JÖRN, ROMAN, ATA and HEIKO together, since 1993), depends mainly on the quality of the music from the minds of all four members and became even more interesting cause all four were growing up on different types and likes of music. It just started getting along well when they came into HOUSE and TECHNO in the late 80s/early 90s. KLANG ELEKTRONIK is not specified for »CLUB-music« - neither for a »HOME-listening«-audience, but can have different faces, BANGIN TECHNO (for example SAPIANO AND THE PARTYCRASHERS) or LAID BACK COUCH MUSIC (for example FARBEN or SIRO). Most prefered is a combination of both elements like on the EIGHT MILES HIGH, MAUS & STOLLE, SIKORA or LIST 12s. In addition KLANG has highest demands on its sleeves and artwork, all done by ATA. The finish product should entirely work together, from the content as well as from the look, each record is a statement - one further step in the label-history.. To do another important step, bringing the music to new ears and a wider audience, KLANG ELEKTRONIK has planned to release more albums (CD and vinyl) for the upcoming future. First thing that came out in 2000 (after ACID JESUS and FREESTYLE CANDIES Vol. 1- long time ago) was the long awaited SAPIANO AND THE PARTYCRASHERS album »GREATEST HITS« (which was supposed to come out on ANDREW WEATHERALLs EMISSIONS imprint (6 years before) but had actually never been released). In 2001 and 2002 Klang succesfully released albums by PETER F. SPIESS, CONTINUOUS MODE, BABY FORD, EIGHT MILES HIGH AND, BERGHEIM 34 last but not least by JAN JELINEK aka FARBEN. Fall 2005 will bring the long awaited CD & DVD compilation FREESTYLE CANDIES 2 as well as the ALTER EGO remix collection »TRANSPHORMED« (Klang CD 012 / 2CD) besides such new stalwarts as Jamal Moss aka HIEROGLYPHIC BEING aka THE SUN GOD, AVUS and MISC., all releasing new and fresh 12 material.
